Fairmont First Baptist Church

Sharing Christ in Our Jerusalem First

worship: For the believers of Fairmont First, worship is communion with in which, we set our minds, attention and heart's affection on humbly seeking the Lord. Our pastor and worship staff makes the pledge that each time we gather, participants will be presented with opportunities  of encountering the Lord and responding to His grace. The music, prayers, messages and participation of our lay people encourage us to draw near to God for the purpose of personal transformation. Our overarching desire is for worship to become a way of life; that what happens in our fellowship is then carried into families, homes, schools, businesses as lifestyle walk.

Music: Music is a great dimension of who we are and what we do at Fairmont First. The expression of our faith in music is provided for everyone from children through adult. As well as the Chancel Choir, we have several excellent soloists who inspire us in worship. There are special seasonal programs that include children, choir, drama team, hand chimes .  Our accompaniest are the best in the area. One thing that usually strikes the attention of first time worshippers is the large role music plays in our service. We do not view music as something to fill in time between announcments and preaching. Our music reflects what we believe about God.When we worship, we believe God is truly present with us, and it is reflected in singing that is alive and filled with vitality.

Prayer/Discipleship

Sunday nights 6pm and Wednesday nights 6pm are times scheduled for prayer and discipleship ministries for all ages. Various topics related to the Christian life are explored.Prayer and discipleship development are essential for the development of mature believers and victorious living is a world at odds with Christian values. Life under Jesus' Lordship involves progressive learning, growth in Christlikeness, application of biblical truth, responsibility for sharing the Christian faith, and responsible church membership.

Youth and Children:Fairmont First extends to our community a well rounded ministry to youth and children. Our staff and lay volunteers are committed to assisting children and youth in discovering the path of abundant life through Christ.  Through all of our ministries and activites, we seek to present Christ as the way to meet  various challenges today's young people face. Some of these challenges are self-esteem, moral decision making, entertainment choices, family and home issues, and personal crisis issues. We attempt to develope friendship and show acceptance as we show intrest in their personal lives. In a time when young people need positive adult role modles, we try to show by our actions that we can be trusted . We seek to provide young believers opportunities to discover and use their spiritual gifts in ministry. Sometimes these opportunities are local mission projects, and at other times, they consist of  more extended mission trips. Either way the objective is to give young Christians the opportunity to explore how they can "make a difference" and impact the lives of other for Christ.

Sunday School: Sunday morning Bible Study begins at 9:45am

Sunday School: It’s for life!

At our church, there are men and women who arrive early and hurry through the doors because they do not want to miss one minute of their Sunday School class. Why do they come? Why don’t they show up just for morning worship like so many others? After all, a person does not have to come to Sunday School to be a Christian? No, but a Christian does have to study the Bible, and Sunday School is about studying the Bible. Sunday School is not just for children. Sunday School is about people of all ages gathering with their peers for the purpose of studying God’s Word in a systematic and purposeful way.

A.I.M. Outreach Ministry

A.I.M. stands for Alive In Ministry: The intentional prospect contact and cultivation strategy of FFBC. Those who participate in A.I.M make contact with prospects through visitation, writing letters or making phone calls. This ministry helps our church stay on target for outreach and evangelism, instead of turning inward.  Alive In Ministry emerged almost spontaniously at the conclusion of our discipleship study when members caught a renewed vision for intentional outreach.

Missions:

First Baptist offers a wide variety of mission opportunities too numerous to outline in this space. Every age group can find offered appropriate mission projects in which to become involved, from children making "cheer" cards and singing for nursing home residents to teenagers going on "World Changers" mission trips, to Baptist Men doing local as well as distant mission projects of disaster relief and recovery.

We are involved in beginning a local crisis pregnancy ministry as well as the seasonal Hispanic literacy ministry.

JAIL Ministry:  Each week Pastor Jesse leads a team of laymen to minister in the Robeson Co. Detention Center. The team leads inmates in worship where the plan of salvation is presented. Usually one or more inmates profess Christ as Savior at the conclusion of the service. Followup is given through prayer, cards and literature.
